Leafy Hanoi Old Quarter street busy with motorbikes and flags, Vietnam

There’s something extra special about a traveller’s first trip to Vietnam, and welcoming two lovely couples from Sydney for their ten-day holiday was exactly that kind of joy. Their contact point was Deb, who reached out to us on a beautiful day in February 2025 — and from that very first call, everything just flowed.

Deb’s trip at a glance

  • Travellers: two couples from Sydney, led by Deb
  • Trip length: ten days in Vietnam
  • First met: in Hanoi — their first time in Vietnam
  • Trip style: relaxed, easygoing, first-timer friendly
  • The lovely twist: Deb returned later the same year with her daughter

An easy first trip to Vietnam that began with a single call

From the very first conversation, I felt an immediate sense of comfort with Deb. She was warm and friendly, and everything came together naturally. Before long, the group decided to choose us for their trip.

When we finally met in Hanoi, they told me it was their first time in Vietnam. They were a little nervous — scams are everywhere these days, and it’s natural to be cautious in a new country. But they were relieved and happy to see that we’re real, and that we were there for them.

“They were relieved and happy to see that we are real — and that we are here for them.”

Deb was the first guest who made me feel completely relaxed and familiar, almost like meeting an old friend. She even brought me some lovely gifts from Sydney — small but beautiful things that truly touched my heart.

A trip full of joy and calm moments

Deb had a wonderful, very chilled-out experience throughout the journey. Even when a few unexpected things happened along the way, the group handled everything with ease and still enjoyed every single moment. It made me so proud to see how positive and adaptable they were.

Even more special: during her time in Vietnam, Deb came up with some fantastic ideas to start her own business. I admired her so much. All I wanted was to support her completely, and to let her know she’ll always have me and My Viva Tour by her side whenever she needs help in Vietnam.

Ideal pacing: for a relaxed first ten days I like to start gently in Hanoi, add a slow leg out to the bay, then keep the rest unhurried — a first trip should feel like a holiday, not a checklist.

A return that warmed my heart

In October 2025, Deb came back to Vietnam — this time with her daughter. Seeing her again made me genuinely happy. I feel grateful that life allowed me to know her, and to build such a lovely connection.

Tips from Deb’s trip

  • Book with someone real. First-time nerves ease fast when you have a local team you can actually meet and message.
  • Stay flexible. Little things go sideways on any trip — travelling with an easy attitude, like Deb, is half the magic.
  • Start in Hanoi. The capital is a warm, walkable introduction for a first visit to Vietnam.
