A Linh Ung Pagoda ao dai photoshoot was the moment Jun Ong’s group chose to remember from their time in Da Nang: seven women in seven different colours of ao dai, conical hats in hand, lined up in front of the pagoda’s relic tower and its great white reclining Buddha. I’m Hera, and these are the photos the group shared with us — I still smile every time I look at them.

The Linh Ung Pagoda Ao Dai Photoshoot

Chua Linh Ung, on the Son Tra Peninsula, is one of Da Nang’s best-known landmarks — home to a soaring pagoda tower, a giant reclining Buddha, and sweeping views over the East Sea. Jun Ong’s group wore ao dai in a different colour each — floral white, black, yellow, navy, pink, emerald and royal blue — with flower crowns and conical hats (non la). Their first photo was taken at the carved stone gate, under the sign that reads Tháp Xá Lợi – Chùa Linh Ứng, with the reclining Buddha right behind them. It’s the kind of photo that needs zero filters.

Then the group moved round to the foot of the tower itself for a second shot, with the tiers of the pagoda rising straight up into a clear blue sky. Seven ao dai, seven non la, and a good-weather day to match.

Winding Down at the Hotel Lounge

Out of the ao dai and back in casual clothes, the group settled into their hotel’s lobby lounge — green sofas, a hand-painted tree mural on the wall, and drinks on the table. It’s the kind of low-key moment that doesn’t make the highlight reel but is usually where a group trip actually starts to feel like a holiday.

Dinner Together

Every good group trip has a shared table somewhere in it. For Jun Ong’s group it was a warm, orange-walled private dining room — eight of them this time, red napkins folded at every place and rooster-painted dishes waiting for the food to arrive.

Tips from Jun Ong’s Trip

Allow time for the climb: Linh Ung Pagoda sits at the top of Son Tra Peninsula, with stairs around the grounds — don’t rush the visit.
Mix your colours: a matching-but-not-identical set of ao dai, like Jun Ong’s group wore, photographs beautifully against the grey-and-white stone gate.
Wear proper shoes: the pagoda grounds are all stone paths and steps — trainers beat heels here.
Plan a low-key evening after: a lounge or dinner booking is the perfect way to wind down once the photoshoot is done.
