Ovidiu's Vietnam dental trip: a 3D dental scan at a Hanoi clinic

Ovidiu’s Vietnam dental trip began the way so many of our journeys do — with a nervous online call and a long list of questions. I’m Ivy, and I had the privilege of looking after Ovidiu Felecan while he had his dental treatment here in Vietnam. From that very first consultation, I could tell how much this meant to him, and earning his trust quickly became the most important part of my job.

Ovidiu’s trip at a glance

  • Traveller: Ovidiu Felecan, who joined us from more than 6,000 km away
  • Where: Hanoi, Vietnam
  • Trip length: around 20 days
  • Trip style: dental treatment paired with exploring the capital
  • Highlights: 3D scans and a tailored treatment plan, a gentle paced schedule, Hanoi coffee and food, and the city’s 80th Independence Day buzz

It started online, more than 6,000 km apart

Choosing a dental clinic in another country is a big, anxious decision. You’re weighing up your health and a large amount of money at the same time, often without ever having met the people who’ll look after you. That’s exactly why our team held so firmly to the values we care about most: professionalism, trust, and fair, honest pricing.

Over several online meetings and detailed consultations — connecting between two countries more than 6,000 kilometres apart — our doctors walked Ovidiu through his dental condition and talked him through each treatment option, one by one. The goal was never to rush him into a decision, but to help him work towards a healthy, confident and lasting smile he’d feel good about for years. After all those careful conversations, Ovidiu decided to come to Vietnam.

The check-up that shaped Ovidiu’s Vietnam dental trip

In September, we welcomed him in person. Even after all those online chats, walking into the clinic for the first time still felt like a special moment — for him and for us. The doctors began with a full check-up: 3D dental scans, X-rays, and a proper face-to-face consultation to finalise the plan.

Based on what they actually saw, the doctor adjusted the approach — switching from the “all-on” implant procedure we’d first discussed online to removable dentures, which turned out to be a more suitable and comfortable option for him. Adjustments like this are common and nothing to worry about: a real mouth in the chair can look quite different from photos on a screen, and a good clinic will change course to suit you rather than force the original idea.

Gentle, personalised care every step of the way

Throughout the treatment, our team stayed right by his side — helping him communicate with the doctors, following up on every step, and keeping him comfortable and supported. That part matters just as much as the clinical work, especially when you’re far from home.

Ovidiu also has a rather low pain tolerance, so the doctors designed a personalised schedule around him. They broke the sessions into smaller parts and kept the appointments flexible, so whenever he felt any discomfort we could pause and pick things up again when he was ready. It made the whole process feel calmer and much more manageable.

Comfort tip: If you’re nervous about pain, ask your clinic upfront about pacing the work into shorter sessions. It’s a small request that makes a big difference — and a good team will happily plan around it, just as ours did for Ovidiu.

Hanoi between the clinic visits

Dental care was only half of Ovidiu’s story. Between appointments, he had plenty of time to get out and discover the capital, and Hanoi is a wonderful city to wander — busy, friendly, and full of life on every corner.

He slowed down over Vietnam’s iconic dishes — pho, banh mi and com tam — and took his time over local coffee, which is a small ritual we always recommend. A Hanoi City Tour rounded things out, giving him a proper feel for the capital, its old streets and its landmarks.

What made the timing extra special was that Ovidiu’s trip coincided with Vietnam’s 80th Independence Day celebration. The whole city was full of colours, flags and joy — a happy, festive backdrop that turned his everyday walks between the clinic and the coffee shop into something memorable.

After 20 days of treatment and exploring, Ovidiu left Vietnam with not just a new smile, but a set of genuinely beautiful memories. Thank you, Ovidiu, for trusting us with both.

Tips from Ovidiu’s trip

  • Start online. Several video consultations let you get to know the doctors and your options before you commit to travelling.
  • Expect the plan to be confirmed in person. A full in-clinic check-up — 3D scans, X-rays and a face-to-face consultation — may adjust what was discussed online, and that’s a good sign.
  • Ask for a paced schedule. If you’re anxious about discomfort, smaller sessions with flexible timing make treatment far easier.
  • Allow enough time. Ovidiu’s trip ran around 20 days, which left room for both his treatment and exploring Hanoi.
  • Leave space to enjoy the city. Coffee, pho and a city tour between visits turn a dental trip into a real holiday.

Quick FAQ from Ovidiu’s trip

How does treatment planning work if I’m overseas?

It starts with several online consultations, so the doctors can review your condition and talk you through the options before you travel. Once you arrive, a full in-clinic check-up — 3D scans, X-rays and a face-to-face consultation — finalises the plan. As with Ovidiu, the doctor may adjust the approach once they see your real situation in person.

What if I’m nervous about dental pain?

Tell the clinic early. For Ovidiu, who has a low pain tolerance, the doctors designed a personalised schedule — breaking treatment into smaller sessions with flexible appointments whenever he felt discomfort. Our team also stayed with him throughout to help him communicate with the doctors and keep him comfortable.

Can I sightsee during treatment?

Absolutely. Because appointments are paced with rest days in between, there’s real time to enjoy the city. Between visits, Ovidiu explored Hanoi — local coffee, dishes like pho, banh mi and com tam, and a Hanoi City Tour to see the capital properly.
